Applications Of CNC Turning Parts

Automotive

CNC turning is commonly used in the automotive industry to produce precision cylindrical components such as engine crankshafts, drive shafts, and brake rotors.

Rapid Prototyping

With its vast material range, low unit cost, and swift production capabilities, CNC stands out as an excellent alternative for rapid prototyping.

Aerospace

CNC turning is an essential process in the aerospace industry for manufacturing precision cylindrical components like turbine parts, hydraulic components, and landing gear shafts.

Industrial machinery

CNC turning is used in the industrial machinery sector to produce high-precision cylindrical components such as gears, couplings, and shafts.

Medical equipment

CNC turning is utilized in the medical device industry to create precision cylindrical components for various medical devices like surgical instruments, implants, and prosthetics.

Defense Industry

CNC Turning is widely used in the defense industry to create highly accurate and cylindrical components like artillery shells, gun barrels, and missile casings.

Surface Finishes for CNC Turning Parts

As-Milled
The finish option with the quickest turnaround. Parts are left with visible tool marks and potentially sharp edges and burrs, which can be removed upon request. Surface finish is comparable to 125 uin Ra finish.

Bead Blasting + Anodizing color or clear (type II)
Type II anodizing is mainly used to produce parts with a uniform, aesthetically pleasing surface and provides good corrosion and limited wear resistance. Parts are bead blasted to #120 grit prior to anodizing.

Bead Blast
Abrasive blasting, more commonly known as sandblasting, is the operation of forcibly propelling a stream of abrasive material against a surface under high pressure to smooth a rough surface, roughen a smooth surface, shape a surface or remove surface contaminants.

Powder Coat
This is a process where powdered paint is sprayed onto a part which is then baked in an oven. This creates a strong, wear- and corrosion-resistant layer that is more durable than standard painting methods. A wide variety of colors are available to create the desired aesthetic.

Anodized (Type II Or Type III)
Type II creates a corrosion-resistant finish. Parts can be anodized in different colors—clear, black, red, and gold are most common—and is usually associated with aluminum. Type III is thicker and creates a wear-resistant layer in addition to the corrosion resistance seen with Type II.

Electropolished
Electropolishing is an electrochemical process used to polish, passivate and deburr metal parts. It is useful to reduce surface roughness.

Brushed
Brushed or dull polished metal is metal with a unidirectional satin finish. It is produced by polishing the metal with a 120–180 grit belt or wheel then softening with an 80–120 grit greaseless compound or a medium non-woven abrasive belt or pad. Commonly brushed metals include stainless steel, aluminium and nickel.

FAQ

Q: What are CNC turning parts?

A: What are CNC turned components? CNC turned components are precision-engineered parts created through computer-controlled machining processes. These processes involve rotating a workpiece while a cutting tool shapes it into the desired form. What materials can be used for CNC turned components?

Q: What are turning parts?

A: A component that is subject to turning operations can be termed as a “Turned Part” or “Machined Component”. Turning operations are carried out on a lathe machine which can be manually or CNC operated.

Q: What are CNC turning tools?

A: Turning Tools: These are the primary tools used for the CNC turning process. They are typically made of high-speed steel or carbide and come in various shapes and sizes to accommodate different turning operations like facing, threading, and grooving.

Q: What are the methods of CNC turning?

A: CNC turning is a subtractive manufacturing technology and refers to the process of removing material from a (typically) cylindrical stock piece of material — though CNC turning can also be performed on a wide range of stock shapes such as hex or square bar.

Q: What materials are used in CNC turning?

A: Suitable Materials for CNC Turning
Some of the most common include metals, plastics, and composites: Metals are widely used because they are strong and durable. They can also be machined to tight tolerances, making them ideal for precision parts. Plastics are another popular material for CNC turning.

Q: What are the parameters for CNC turning?

A: In turning, the machining process is governed by three primary cutting conditions: cutting speed (vc), feed rate (f), and depth of cut (ap). These parameters each play a pivotal role in defining the efficiency and precision of the operation.

Q: What is the full form of CNC turning?

A: The full form of CNC is Computerised Numerical Control. CNC is a control system that controls devices running on electronic digital computers. It regulates, optimises, and records a machine moving objects. It can be a router, grinder, laser cutter, welder, milling machine, etc.

As one of the most professional CNC turning parts manufacturers and suppliers in China, we're featured by quality products and good price. If you're going to wholesale custom made CNC turning parts, welcome to get quotes from our factory. Also, OEM&ODM service is available.
