What Is PVC?

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is a commonly used thermoplastic in CNC machining, formed by the polymerization of vinyl chloride monomers. It features excellent corrosion resistance, chemical stability and durability. In the field of precision machining, due to its low raw material cost and stable processing performance, it is suitable for use in combination with high-precision hardware components and precision mechanical structural parts.

In addition, PVC also has excellent electrical insulation performance. In fields such as electronic devices and precision automated instruments, it can be used to make insulating components to ensure the safe operation of the equipment.

How To Choose a PVC Material CNC Processing Service Provider

Choosing the right CNC machining service provider is the key to ensuring the quality and cost-effectiveness of PVC parts. The following are the factors to be considered when making a choice:

Experience and Professionalism

Choose suppliers with rich experience in PVC material processing.

Equipment and Technology

Ensure that suppliers have advanced CNC machine tools and inspection equipment.

Quality Control

Understand the quality control process of the supplier, including material certification and processing accuracy inspection.

Customization ability

Suppliers should be able to provide customized solutions according to customer demands.

Delivery time and cost

Evaluate the delivery capacity and price competitiveness of the suppliers.

CNC Machining PVC Materials

CNC machining of PVC materials is an efficient and precise manufacturing process, suitable for the production of complex-shaped components.

During the CNC machining process, it is necessary to reasonably control the spindle speed, feed rate and cutting depth to avoid material softening or melting due to overheating caused by friction. Meanwhile, by using sharp hard alloy tools and appropriate cooling measures (such as compressed air or dry cutting), burrs can be effectively reduced and the surface finish can be ensured. Through precise path planning of numerical control programming, high-precision hole opening, milling and contour cutting can be achieved, meeting the strict requirements of different industries for dimensional tolerances and functionality. This process combines economy and flexibility, making it an ideal choice for small-batch customized production.

CNC Polyamide (PA) material FAQ

What are the disadvantages of PVC?

The disadvantages of PVC mainly include relatively low mechanical strength, making it difficult to withstand large pressure and impact force, and it is prone to deformation and cracking under long-term high-intensity use. It has poor heat resistance. Beyond a certain temperature, its performance will change or even soften and deform, which limits its application in high-temperature environments. The environmental friendliness is controversial.

How long is the service life of PVC after it is processed into components?

The service life of PVC components after processing is affected by multiple factors such as material formula, usage environment and load conditions. Under normal indoor temperature conditions, without strong ultraviolet rays or strong corrosion, the service life of PVC parts can reach more than 10 years. If exposed outdoors for a long time, the surface is prone to aging and brittleness due to the effects of ultraviolet rays, temperature differences and oxidation, and its lifespan may be shortened to 5 to 8 years.

Is PVC material expensive?

The price of PVC material is at a medium to low level among plastic materials. Its cost is usually lower than that of engineering plastics such as ABS, PC and PA, but higher than that of general-purpose plastics such as PE and PP. Compared with other materials, PVC is widely used in cost-sensitive fields such as building pipes, packaging materials, and daily necessities due to its cost-performance advantage. However, in high-end precision components or scenarios with high-temperature resistance and high mechanical performance requirements, due to performance limitations, higher-cost engineering plastics may need to be selected. Overall, PVC is a general-purpose plastic with relatively good economy and is suitable for large-scale application.
